K.E.Z.A.C.O.
Kanji Editor by Z-chan for Amiga Computers Only
(First of all : my English is poor ! Suimasen !)
This product is one that can be freely distributed, used and so on...
but I never know what term is DP, and what is FreeWare... and such
things...
Anyway, I'd like all the files in the archive to be kept together, so
my name still appears in it !
And... it'd be nice from you if you write to me... even if you don't
have any usage for this program.
bsocias@ulb.ac.be (French and English welcome...
Dutch accepted if you're not in a hurry...
or Japanese if I can reply in the two next years ^_^;;)

0.Introduction
One day at school...
"Talk request from XXXXX@XXX.XX.XX"
-Hello, who are you ?
-Hello, I'm a student from your sibling-university, and I saw in 'tin'
you were interrested in Japanese
-Right.
-I saw you wrote your name with JWP in your .signature
-... ?? Huh... JWP ? What's that ? No, I used a small AMOS 'point'n'click'
home-made JIS string generating program
-Never seen JWP ? I'm in room nr XXXX, come and have a look at it.
And there I went, and I saw that Windoze-Pascal pointerized-JWP, which, even
if it is not a wonderful word processor, is a useful tool
KEZACO isn't even yet at the level of an old JWP, but at least, it exists !
I saw somebody put another japanese editor on AmiNet by the time I uploaded
the first version of KEZACO, but I forgot to download his font, and I didn't
go back to University since then... so I couldn't try it, and perhaps is
KEZACO a very bad thing compared to that program.
So, you guessed it, KEZACO is an attempt in making a small japanese text
editor on the Amiga !
It will read any Old-JIS file, Shift-JIS file, or EUC ones ! (I hope so !)
It only saves Old-JIS for now, but you may use Copy or Cut, and look in
Clips: for a Shift-JIS version of your file... It'll be fixed later.
Oops... let's begin the doc...
1.Installation
Once 'lha -x'ed, KEZACO should be running properly, but not perfectly !
If you're a nice boy, you'll first tell KEZACO where you've put your
edict(+.xjdx) and kanjidic(+.xjdx) files, by editing its ToolTypes.
(ToolTypes for dummies :
-click once on KEZACO
-get the Icon menu from WorkBench
-release on Get Information, or whatever is said in your country !
-edit the lines called 'ToolTypes' BAKA !)
What ? You haven't got edict and kanjidic !!!
Don't panic, just ask any search engine for them, and you'll get them !
You don't have the .xjdx files... (Sigh !) Find a Unix machine, and use
one of those index extractor program... oops There's one for Amiga in the
AmiKanji package which is available somewhere on the net too... (surely
beside some edicts !!)
What else ?
You're reading AmiNet from a CD and you can't get those files !!!
That's what I call bad luck !
1st) Don't panic
2nd) Ask the AmiNet search utility about edict and kanjidic... who knows !
3rd) If it doesn't work... wait 'till next AmiNet issue, 'cos I'll ask
the 'GN'authors of edict and kanjidic if their files can be put on AmiNet !
2.Entering text
By pressing Right-Command and ',' ';' ':' '=' '+' '/', you can switch between
different input modes... Those keys have been chosen because I own a French
Azerty keyboard... but I guess it isn't very useful on Qwerty and others...
sorry... (that's why it'll be Localized !)
2.1.ASCII mode
allows you to type ascii text !!!
(warning ! do NOT split lines with Return... it worked before, but I created
that bug yesterday... to be fixed !)
2.2.Kana mode
allows you to enter Kanas phonetically
lower case will create Hiraganas
upper case will create Katakanas
If you type things such as 'chu' it will put a big 'chi' and a small 'yu' by
itself. If you wonder how to type some kanas, have a peek in the file
'files/rom2kana' where you can add any missing string if you ever need.
(It has been hand-made, using Ed and the old AmigaBasic Manual for the ASCII
table ^_^;; Then, I discovered that such a file already existed beside
'xjdic" @_@;;)
If you have edict, you may type $ before a 'to be put in kanji'-string and $
again once the string is complete, you'll enter the dictionary tool to
accept the suggested kanjis.
2.3.Kanji mode (needs edict)
Just press $ once you've completed your word to enter the dictionary tool.
It was made before the $kana$ thing... perhaps will it be removed.
2.4.JIS mode
Type the two characters that make the JIS code of the character (no use)
2.5.Meaning mode (needs edict)
Type the english meaning of the word you seek, then press $.
2.6.Code mode (needs kanjidic)
Type in some code 'S13', 'P1-3-5', or things like this to find a particular kanji.
Read the 'kanjidic' docs for more informations about those codes.
Always end your string with $.
2.7.Lookup mode (needs edict) (accessed via RightCommand L)
Place your cursor on the first character of the jis-string you want to find and
press one number from 1 to 9, telling KEZACO the length of the string.
Useful for translations.
3.Dictionary
Press $ for next word
Press * for previous word (again, beacuse of Azerty keyboards !)
Press return to put the first kanji string in the text
Press escape to return to edition
4.Edition
You may use cursor keys to move around, and look in the menues for
faster movement (shortcuts are on the num-keypad)
Beware of ASCII strings !! Don't get lost !
If things begin to seem strange, save your file in ram: and reload it,
it'll be cleaner, and 'multi-ascii' things will be joined ! (Thanks Kamisama)
Numbers in the title bar mean : line, column and ascii-string position...
5.Bitmap matching
You shouldn't use this... it doesn't work well...
-it zooms your current char
-you may 'paint' it by clicking on the zoomed version
-you may browse through matching chars with left and right cursors
-you may zoom last matched kanji by clicking on it
-return inserts in text
-escape returns to edition
6.Printing
You'll have to wait 'til I have a printer !! (or ask me for the source and
do it yourself... sorry...)
7.Various
Don't try to make files bigger than 500 lines... there's no range test... so
it may ... no, it will crash your machine
Don't try to 'delete' all returns in a file, 'cos KEZACO only gets 40 kanjis/line
... or perhaps not... it may crash too... well... all those things have to be
fixed, and if anybody wants to help me, he's welcome !
Don't say KEZACO is slow, because it's hard enough for it to plot every kanji point
per point from the font... oops...
8.The files...
files/rom2kana (or something like this)
is used to translate kanji strings to kanas, if you look at it, you'll easily
understand the structure, and be able to fill it yourself, but KEZACO only
reads a maximum of N entries... sorry... it'll be in the ToolTypes later
files/jis24
is the raw-bitmap font of jis characters that was in the JemTeX package, and it
came from a japanese editor for MS-DOS (as it was said in the docs) and is
freely distributable
jis/Madrigal.jis
was made using KEZACO, listening to that song of Hiroko Kasahara
KEZACO
is the main program
KEAZCO.info
contains the config... so... DON'T ERASE IT !!
Doc
is this document
LatestNews
is nothing important ^_^;;
???/edict
???/edict.xjdx
???/kanjidic
???/kanjidic.xjdx
are to be found somewhere with ftp
The 'who' command KEZACO uses in the beginning, is to identify the user.
You should put your MultiUser C: directory in the ToolTypes "MUDir".
(If you don't use muFS, don't worry about it, it has no use)
So... good luck, and try not to watch 'Marmalade Boy' too late in the
evening !!
Okay ?
